I had written this rather long rant. Realizing the size was far to large for a blog entry, I decided to edit it down. What I ended up with is the following:
C# is case-sensitive. I hate that.

I think that sums it up.

  • I agree with David (see prior comment). Some folks (like me) like case-sensitivity, others don't. I'm not going to say anymore, for fear of igniting some flamebait....

I'm not sure how long you've been using C#, David, but if it has only been a short while, try to be patient with it (and yourself).. it may actually grow on you. =)

  • First, let me say I agree with you... however, I also agree with the two previous posts. It's part of the langauge, either, a) get used to it or b) don't use it :-) I've heard all the arguments why case-sensitivity is a useful, but I for one still don't see it. However, even in the English language, there is case sensitivity... the first example that comes to mind is 'god' and 'God'. The two are two mean completely different things; however, to someone who doesn't come from an English speaking background, they could be confused. It's the same thing with C'ish type languages. Again, get used to it... it's part of the langauge. That doesn't mean you have to like it or agree to it... it's just what it is. So if you really don't like it, do what I do... use VB :-)

(Look guys... I'm practices good blogticate :-) )

  • Just out of curiosity - and w/o intending to stir up any controversy - what languages are case-insensitive other than VB?

  • LOL! That made me laugh even harder than when we discovered "Are you Hot or are you NOt" on the tube tonight! Not bitching about C# - but how you trimmed down an entire rant to one funny complaint. <g>
