Free “Guathon” all day event in London on June 6th
The (awesome) UK developer community is holding another all day event with Steve Sanderson and me in London on June 6th.
The event is free to attend, and the venue will be in Central London (at the ODEON Covent Garden). The website for the event is here.
Content
The event goes from 9am to 5pm, and will feature a bunch of great .NET content. The current agenda includes the following talks:
Build an app using ASP.NET MVC 3, EF Code First, NuGet and IIS Express (ScottGu)
We'll spend 2 hours building an application with some of the latest releases of the Microsoft Web Stack. You get to choose what app to build and then watch Scott code it on stage. See how the Microsoft web stack fits together, how to take advantage of great new features, and learn some tips and tricks you might not know about along the way.
Dynamic Web UIs with Knockout.js (Steve Sanderson)
Building rich user experiences with JavaScript can be difficult. In this session you'll learn how Knockout.js lets you use the Model-View-ViewModel (MVVM) pattern to combine clean object-oriented code with simple declarative bindings to create sophisticated UIs that run in any mainstream browser (including mobile ones). Knockout.js works great with jQuery, and enables you to build even richer web experiences.
C# 5 and Async Web Applications with ASP.NET vNext (Steve Sanderson)
This session explores how asynchronous web programming will get much easier in ASP.NET vNext, and how you could use this to boost performance. We'll consider techniques for going beyond Ajax and efficiently pushing updates from server to client in near-realtime.
Cloud Development (ScottGu)
Scott is now spending a lot of time working on Windows Azure - Microsoft's Cloud Platform. In this session he will cover why cloud computing will be a huge opportunity for .NET developers, and provide an inside look into how the Windows Azure Platform works. He'll discuss some of the architecture considerations involved in running large scale services, how to design for elastic scale and fault tolerance, and how you'll be able to take advantage of the Windows Azure Platform to deliver even better solutions.
Register for Free
You can register to attend this all day event for free here.
Hope to see some of you there!
