• When you build this new end-to-end sample app for MVC 2, please consider building the data access with Entity Framework in order to begin introducing EF to people who would not otherwise test it out. Microsoft has dead-ended LinqToSql and has stated that EF is the way we should be going, yet every sample I see still uses LinqToSql. If you claim EF is the right thing to do, then let's see it come from you in this new sample app!

• Scott, please at least gives us the option of downloading the Release Notes in something other than doc format. I do not have Word, or anything that can read Word, on my system. At least provide something that I can open in WordPad (docx) or a PDF.

• I have VS 2010 RC installed, and you installed ASP.NET MVC 2 for that version. I now find I cannot install ASP.NET MVC 2 RTM for VS 2008. The install tells me a version of ASP.NET MVC is already installed.
  
  I'm in a transition phase where I really want to use both IDE's. Did I just do something wrong or should we just sit tight and get ready for VS 2010 RTM? And at that time, will folks making a transition be able to have ASP.NET MVC 2 RTM for both platforms?

  If so, that's pretty disappointing as that's not an uncommon scenario.
  

• While I believe in the good things that MVC brings us, I am not sure if we are hearing anything from those who turned Web developer from a VB like background, I guess these silent audiences will simply stick to webforms.
  
  But from a team lead perspective, we can't afford to choose either one depends on project nature, we need a single framework for enterprise development planning, and we also need to leverage the manpower from all members in the team regardless of their strength (well, I don't like to fire all those webform oriented folks), so I am wondering, can a control based, "drag and drop" kind of design time support be made available to MVC framework, probably in the view without the viewstate/postback stuff, yet yet still maintaining the good model from MVC?
  
  If the answer is "no", may I understand the challenge behind that?

  The general collection-binding syntax is described at http://www.hanselman.com/blog/ASPNETWireFormatForModelBindingToArraysListsCollectionsDictionaries.aspx. Binding to non-sequential indexes is described at http://haacked.com/archive/2008/10/23/model-binding-to-a-list.aspx (use the .index suffix to tell us what your indexes are).

• As someone who's new to MVC and about to delve into the new paradigm Im having serious trouble locating MVC 2 tutorials. Can anyone recommend a complete tutorial on MVC 2 from start to finish with some source code to play with?
  

• Perfect timing! I am just setting up my staging servers ready to run an MVC2 Web app so I'm extremely that the final release is out :)

• I'm a bit of a newbie and in the past few months have built a couple of small apps in asp.net and vb.net (I am learning c#). However I started to look at the excellent MVC nerddinner example and want to start working with MVC for future apps (as it just seems such a logical way to go). Wondered if anyone had any examples of how I could build an app with a parent-child relationship managed in part via tab like forms. The app I'd like to do in MVC is for a small school and I'd like to create new families and then link up children and parents to the family - but using a tab like form to seperate out the children from the parents etc. . I've already built a data model for this (according to requirement). If anyone has anything to guide me it would be great........my work is all voluntary whilst I am recovering from health problems.

  Yes - ASP.NET MVC 2 is definitly bid-deployable just like MVC1 was. You can use it on a .NET 3.5 SP1 server just fine. If you go to the http://www.asp.net/mvc site you can find instructions on how to bin deloy (they are the same as ASP.NET MVC V1).

• Great work on MVC! I am completely convinced that this is the best way to develop web applications! I have only been playing with it for a month. I have completed NerdDinner and I have started a new project of my own. There is a lot to learn, but I REALLY like the separation between code and the view.
  
  Unfortunately, I have been unable to deploy my application (which works great in VS2008 with MVC 2 RTM on my XP development machine). I can't deploy it to IIS 5.1 on my local machine, or to IIS6 on our test web server, or to IIS 7 on my Windows 7 machine at home. I have read all of the options at the main ASPNET MVC web site, and Scott Hanselman's directions for installing on pre-IIS7, and Steve Sanderson's blog on the subject, to no avail. Why is it so hard to deploy this product?
  

• MVC Is Fantastic! but I cannot get MVC2 to build on our TFS Build server.
  MVC1 projects are fine, the server has MVC2 installed, but just trying to compile the standard MVC2 project template code give these errors:
  error BC30002: Type 'HttpPost' is not defined.
  error BC30451: Name 'UrlParameter' is not declared.
  error BC30451: Name 'AreaRegistration' is not declared.
  
  Can you help shed any light on this, Microsoft.Web.Mvc.Build.dll does not appear to exist any more and that seems to be the only solution available on the net.

• I tried downloading a few templates from the gallery and they seem to be broke in MVC 2. They were working fine in MVC 1. It's like the styles in Site.css are being ignored.
  

• I've been trying to publish the nerddinner, I built MVC2, but have some strange things happening first, the scripts don't seem to work unless they are in the aspx files that need them. and the links in the about box don't seem to have the proper security to return to the home or create page.
  
  I've publish to vista (IIS7), and xp(IIS5.1)

• Congrats,But I don't know why Mvc2.0 have not 'MVC2 NestedMasterPage Template'? When we add a view,I can choose the MasterPage,But when I add a new masterPage,I can't find the option for choose the materPage(I guess it's would to choose 'add a new item' in menu),So I must add a 'NestedMasterPage',and delete the CodeBehind file and alter the Mater file.

• This is a very exciting news. For those who has used ASP.NET MVC 1 before, you may need to uninstall it from the server before installing the latest release ASP.NET MVC 2 version. I did upgrade from ASP.NET MVC 1 to ASP.NET MVC 2 and all works smoothly with ASPHostCentral (http://www.asphostcentral.com). Two thumbs up for those who have put an extra effort into this project and I am very positive this will be a successful one
