After 4 days of being Mr. Mom
It’s 11:40pm and I’m currently reviewing email received throughout the day, awaiting the 2-3 inches of snow expected in the Dallas area (yes not much, but hey, the whole metroplex shuts down at the first hint of winter weather, which usually melts by 10:30 the next morning).
After the past 4 days, I felt compelled to blog this:
My wife is amazing! Developing software is soo much easier than being a full-time parent! See, both my son and my wife have a strong case of the flu, and I’ve been playing Mr. Mom for the past two days. And with my wife expecting soon, we’re trying to be real careful with her treatment. The past 3 days have led to constant 102-103 fevers, an emergency room visit (with a case of pleuralcy), multiple trips to the store, and an active night-owl son, who refuses to let “the girly-man flu” stop him from playing with every toy in the house!
I work hard at being a great father, balancing work and family to the best of my ability. But, when both of your loved ones are really sick, the compassionate side of you comes out!
Hopefully things will be back to normal in 2-3 days… probably when I will start showing signs of it L
It's scary how rampant this flu virus is this year. Have you experienced it in other areas of the US? In the DFW area, over 25% of the school was out due to the virus, so they cancelled school until Thursday. (Check out the Dallas Morning News Article about the topic) All the doctors we saw for the past 4 days have all stated that this is the worst they've seen in a long time. Not to preach, but if you haven't already done so, GET YOUR FLU SHOT NOW!!!!
UPDATE: Here is a link to the Center for Disease Control's website, which shows a weekly graph of flu outbreaks in the US
