Week 1: Packers Shocked Many Last Night!
(Warning, non-.NET posting)
Packers Week 1 - GREAT WIN!
What a game last night! After a completely mediocre turnout each and every week of the pre-season, my Packers did an amazing job last night, beating the Panthers on their own turf, 24-14. My thoughts on the game...
Offense: A- Ahman is a stud, and again, carried the load last night - with 3 TDs (2 on the ground, 1 in the air). Favre was efficient, but the receivers seemed a little out of it (timing patterns need more work?). The TEs looked great, and didn't drop a pass. The O-Line looked amazing, and I hope they remain healthy througout the season.
Defense: A BLITZ BLITZ BLITZ. Man, what an aggresive showing from the defense. I think they blitz'ed more last night then all of last season! Let's hope Grady Jackson isn't seriously hurt - there are big expectations from him this year. The secondary still gave up too many 8-15 yard passes. Rookie Carroll had a bad game, causing many penalties, and completely missing his assignment of Mohammad, giving Carolina an easy TD.
Special Teams: B Good coverage, and didn't surrender many long returns all night. Rookie punter BJ was benched for the night, but I thought that his replacement was OK, but not great. He had a few line-drives.
Bring on Chicago! Cheeseheads, let's hope that the Defense didn't show the NFL everything they had (i.e. more tricks left in their bag!)
Cheers,
Scott
