Good point Roy. I haven't subscribed to get MSN Alerts for any of the blogs I've seen offering it because RSS is so much more convenient for me. But there are people I know who won't use a rss reader and only read blogs in the browser, and the alerts thing would theoretically be nice for them.
I was surprised that MessageCast is offering the Alerts service for free without advertising. And you can view stats about how many people have signed up to receive alerts from your blog and when the messages were sent. Spiffy!
