M-Audio MobilePre USB on Vista

I ran into some issues earlier today attempting to record audio with my MobilePre USB from M-Audio.  After calling sound & audio guru Simon Allardice, I got the needed advice to get things working again.

First, I downloaded the latest driver from M-Audio, and installed. However, Simon also suggested that I plug into the same USB port every time.  It just happens that my computer has 6 USB ports, so I likely plugged it in to a different port today.  Even after I installed the latest driver, my MobilePre seemed very emotionally attached to one particular USB port.  Nonetheless, if anyone else runs into problems with this product, try dedicating the USB port to the MobilePre that it was initially installed on.

  • ive tried everything to get my mobilepre usb running on my new vista laptop but it says that it cannot open it because its says it cannot run a legacy cpl elevated and will not let my open my programs. i cannot record and i would like some some help from anyone that can help me with this problem

  • shawn,

I can only suggest you do like I did. I also had the issue with not running a legacy cpl elevated. However, once I reinstalled and used the same USB port - everything worked out fine. If you read this again, let me know if that worked.

  • My mobilepre is also not working on vista. I can get a recording but it sounds horrible, as if my guitar was underwater. i tried the new driver, but no luck.

  • I figured it out. All you have to do is uninstall all the mobilepre driver(the old version) and make sure you unplug the mobile too. Then download the drivers from the m-audio webpage (or google m-audio mobilepre drivers) follow the instructions, and it should work (without the underwater effects!)

  • while monitoring my levels before recording on adobe audition I cant hear my mic chk in both ears with my headphones. I have it set to mono and after i record i hear in left and right but not before why?

  • I'm having a shutdown problem with my m-audio mobile pre usb and my new vista 32-bit system. I installed the new vista driver and everything works fine until suddenly the computer goes to bluescreen and restarts. It provides information upon restart as to the source of the problem (but I'm not exactly codewriter so I am looking for any help. The information on the error is:

  • Hi guys,

I'd been having this problem with my M-Audio mobilepre usb running under vista ... I've got a solution! It works great with my vista system, so I'm hoping it'll help someone out there too!

    1) Uninstall all pre-existing m-audio drivers conencted with mobilepre and unplug the unit. Also disable any other sound cards (you can do this through your Control Panel or Volume bar)
    2) Download the lastest XP SP2 driver from the m-audio website (NOT the vista BETA!) and SAVE
    3) right click on the install program, and go to properties - choose the program to run with Windows XP permission. THEN install.
    4) once installed, plug in the unit
    5) then go to the DEP, and disable DEP on rundll32 (found in Windows/System32)
    6) restart and it should go!

It worked perfectly on my system after 2 months of M-Audio hell from no sound, to underwater sound, to chipmunk sound!

    Hope this helps!

  • My problem on my mobilepre usb on my new vista laptop was that if I played music or a video, the sound or the video was played really fast. It worked fine the first days after the instalation. I tried to uinstall it and reinstall it but the same problem happened again after a day or two. I have always used the same usb port. Anyone got any idea?

  • I run protools on my vista pc and every time I use protools it disables any other sound device from providing output. When the driver is re-installed they work fine until I use protools again. M-Audio doesn't have a clue and expects me to do their trouble shooting for them. I am giong to try Drew's fix.
    Thanks

  • Here is a direct link to the M-Audio downloads page.

  • Hi everyone,

I've been having a heck of a time getting the MobilePre drivers installed on Vista. I download the Vista driver and install it, then plug in the MobilePre. The software portion installs with no problem, the "MobilePre DFU", but when it gets to "MobilePre" it can't find any drivers. I've let it search my entire C: drive, but it couldn't find anything. I also tried the XP driver method Drew mentioned, but it did the exact same thing. Anyone have any ideas, or do I just need to get a new audio interface?

    Thanks!

  • Tried drew's fix - but a lot of computers come with vista and service pack one pre-installed. I assume SP1 was the thing that wouldn't allow me to install the XP driver for my mobilepre usb. Said "cannot install driver - please contact m-audio". Ugh! This is a nightmare. I only bought this DELL XPS because it was faster.

  • If you are using Vista with 64bit which is the new operating system. M-Audio does not have a driver for the mobile-pre, if you are having problems like I did. here is what you need to do.

    1. Uninstall all Mobile-pre software. And unplug the unit.
    2. Then Re-install the disc, and then plug the unit, along with microphone into a designated port which will always be its special little port.
    3. Go to the Control Pannel select System then select Device Manager(left hand side). You will see a link where it says Sound, Video, Games. Open the pull down and enable the Mobile-Pre, while Disableing the original software(dont worry you can always go back and enable it later).
    4. Go to your volume meter in the quick launch.Right Click, and go to Recording Devices. Right click the open space and go to Show Disabled Devices. Mobile-pre should pop up, click enable.
    5. Start recording!!

  • I am running Sonar 8 Producers Edition on Vista. Mobile Pre USB is the selected input device and it is recording fine. But then for output it says "master" and that is essentially the Mobile Pre being used as the output. As it plays back it pops and jumps around...sounds terrible. My dads Dell with XP works just great! ...but mine is not. Help? Anybody know a thing or two about Sonar 8 and its Audio options?

    Thanks!

  • I am running a Windows Vista 32 bit SP1 and trying to use my M-Audio Fast Track Pro with my Sony ACID Music Studio 6.0. I installed it and downloaded the driver from the m-audio website and went through all the steps, but whenever I plug in the interface, I get an "Access Denied" message that says "TBIA" and I have no idea what that means, but I re-installed the interface and keep getting the same results. Does anyone have an answer to this?

  • I'm trying to hear and record my microphone through the M-Audio Mobil Pre Device through My HP Desktop PC that has Windows Vista 16 Bit Operating System. The software installed properly and the computer is showing it is connected properly. I went into the control panel to make sure that it was set as the default device and it is set correctly. Everything that was mentioned in the support forums I've checked or tried and nothing has changed. The microphone is still not being picked up through the PC even though it is showing that everything is working properly. This product and the microphone worked perfectly through an older laptop I had with Windows XP just prior to me attempting the use on this computer. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
