The case against XP

Here's an interesting article on The Case Against Extreme Programming.

Personally, I like XP - or rather I like some parts of XP.  Some of the criticism in this article rings true with me, however, so I suspect I'm going to have an interesting morning of argu^H^H^H^H interesting discussions.

  • I've tried XP a few times, but it just wasn't for me. Nothing against it really, it just didn't fit with the way I work.

  • Matt Stephens (the article's author) has also written what is IMHO an excellent book on the subject - Extreme Programming Refactored.

The book is much more balanced (and funny!) than the article. It doesn't recommend throwing XP away, for example, but describes what are the best parts to keep, and how to apply it to large projects and so forth. Well worth a look.
