BlogX

Who out there has done much with BlogX on GotDotNet

I downloaded it and joined the group to contribute and it looks pretty cool. I wanted to get some peoples feedback. If you have something meaningful to say. Please comment.

  • From what I have heard, its a great tool. I plan on opening my blog engine on GDN soon once geekswithblogs.com is release and the tools are finish. I will inform you when it is done if you would like.

  • I've been using BlogX and really liking it. I joined the group, too, with the idea that as I fixed bugs in my copy I might contribute them back... but, the coding I've been doing has been off in other directions, so I haven't contributed anything yet.

The basic functionality is solid. And pretty simple to figure out. There are rough edges (particularly with the administrative features) which provides a great incentive to code more... :)

I'm working on a web-deployed WinForms interface for adding, editing, and deleting posts... since my employer is still stuck in the COM era, it's nice to have something to really work on to keep my skills honed.

  • A great entry level blogging tool, not nearly as cool as the .netweblogs stuff though, it lacks a lot of more advanced features.

  • I haven't looked through the source or anything - but is content stored in a database or are static html pages published?

I remember hearing about the latter, but now I can't remember if that was BlogX or not...

  • it appears that data is stored in xml documents and static html pages.
