Pop machine mystery

OK, I live where it can get very cold in the winter, and I've always wondered something whenever I see an outdoor pop machine.

In the summer they obviously have refrigerators to keep the pop cold, but in the winter they must have heaters to keep the pop from freezing.

Does it seem strange to anyone else that in the winter you are getting pop that is warmed up above air temperature?

Anyone know the inner workings of pop machines well enough to know how this is actually done?

  • I don't think I know what you're talking about :)

It really wouldn't be that difficult. The machine already has a temperature gauge so it knows when to run the A/C. Why not use that to also know when to run heat?

As for the actual heating mechanism, that's already built in - the A/C system generates a crapp load of heat, which is typically dumped out of the back of the machine, via heat syncs (the same as your refridgerator - put your hand behind it when it's running... it's quite warm.)

All you need to do is provide a heating duct that can transfer the heat to either: a) the outside of the machine during summer (to keep it cool) or b) the inside of the machine during winter (to keep it warm). The opposite would be true of the cooling duct: point it inside during the summer, and outside during the winter.

  • I know that there are machines that can detect when the temperature outside is warm/hot and they will slightly increase the price because they know the pop is in higher demand.

  • quit asking question online and go do ur homework
