Free for Developers: IdeaBlade DevForce Express

Hi all.

I want to share this information about a product called DevForce from the company IdeaBlade.

DevForce is an extensible .NET application server and development framework. Simplifies data access, improves user-interface design, and enables rich on-demand applications to operate over the internet. In addition, DevForce provides a complete migration path to, and support for, next-generation Microsoft technologies such as LINQ, WPF, and Silverlight. Check the different versions here.

The good news is that it's Express Edition is freely available to all developers and you can download it here. All you have to do is register and off you go.

Hope this helps you be more efficient at work (or just for fun :) ).

See ya...

  • First of all idea blade is not free.
It is evolution version which is available for download.
These versions do not have full functionality also. As i am using evolution and paid version of Ideablade.

.net 3.5 have almost all feature that can a ORM have.
We can use LINQ to SQL to use that.
If you have .net 2.0, there are other options available also.

  • Well, I was talking about IdeaBlade DevForce Express.

  • Actually, yes they did used to have this free product, but they have discontinued it altogether. Unfortunately all you can download now is eval versions of thier Enterprise, Professional and Standard products.

  • Yes David.

Unfortunately for us they've discontinued the express edition.

    Best regards,

  • Actually, there are TWO free editions: The DevForce Express Editions (for either VS 2008 or VS 2010)
give you free unlimited use, although you're limited to a maximum of 10 tables. If it does what you need, you can buy the production version for $995. If you're a professional software developer, and this tool saves you 20% of the time it takes you to build an application (as has been my experience), it's worth ten times what it costs. Tell your client that it will reduce your billing by five or ten thousand dollars, and have THEM buy it.

    Les
