Why do I care what it looks like inside Microsoft

There is quite a bit of blog traffic regarding Channel9 and something about a video showing what it looks like inside MS.  Me, I could care less.  No more than I care what it looks like in other folk's office.  Walls, pictures, floors, monitors, pens, paper, phones, etc.

I am not being negative here.  It simply strikes me as odd that folks would really care and\or have an interest in this.  Heck, maybe we should video tape our office here and see what kind of response we get.

  • I tend to agree -- people are always curious, however. I remember back in the .Net bubble days and offices would have fun areas for video games, bean bag chairs, and popcorn machines. I'd be more interested in seeing that than a plain old office.

For the record, some good companies still have those Fun Zones (foosball has been my personal favorite since the days at i3 Solutions).

  • I think it is interesting simply because I admire the company and to get a chance to see behind the "firewall" is something we haven't really seen before.

BTW: I would be interested in seeing the inner workings of your company too.

  • Totally agree with you Greg. Just another office. Who cares?

OK, I admire Microsoft. But do I have to know what their offices look like from the inside? Hell no. Some people seem to have some very strong almost religious kind of obsession with anything Microsoft. That's scary if you ask me.

    My 2 cents,

    Wim

  • Come on Greg. Show us your office :>

  • People want to see if we really plug ourselves into borg modules, with ze crazee blinken-lights.

  • Because Microsoft is one of the most successful companies of all time, that's why.
