Filtering Spam

If you use Outlook and need to filter spam, for free, use SpamBayes:

This software is incredible.  I've been using it for 6+ months. I've had 2 spams end up in my Inbox since.

  • I have to agree! It's not flawless, but it sure works great 99% of the time. I've never found a false positive with SpamBayes either.

  • It works a treat , eats spam for breakfast.

  • The problem with it though is if you don't run as admin it won't install for you... that's a major negative in my book. (FYI there is a hack to get it to work for all users but again it's a hack)

Outlook 2003's filter has been good enough for me.

  • Hi. I'm using SpamBayes on my Outlook20002 since las year, and I am very happy with the accuracy of spam recognition.

The only thing that really disappoints me is that SB cannot delete the little envelope on the notification area when a spam message arrives. This is very annoying, because when the envelope appears I must chech for new mail, and I must open and close a mail just to make it disappear. If I do not do it, the envelope sits there, and I am not notified of new emails. This make almost pointless to have an automatic spam remover, if I must manually go to Outlook each time a new spam mail arrives... I know it's a known issue on this (SB) wonderful piece of sw, but I'm looking for some substitute. Other than this, SB is amazing.
