  • Hopefully it won't be a problem for you, but I (and many others) have had nothing but trouble trying to get a 3D video card to work in a Dell server (mine's a 1500SC). The maker of the motherboard made it very difficult to add in a new video card. The built-in ATI card is supposed to automatically turn itself off when there is another card in the system and it kind of does, but still holds onto something. I could never get a 3D card to work in it and looking through the dell support forums, it seems to be a common case. Just thought I'd warn you. Hope it's not a problem for you though!

  • Hi Erik,

Thanks for the heads up. From the forums I've looked at, I've definitely seen instances where people have reported problems, but I've also seen lots of people who've had no problems at all. I'll keep my fingers crossed while I try to figure out which card to get. The video card market has gotten a lot more complicated since I bought my top-of-the-line Matrox Mystique a number of years ago. Running mostly laptops has caused my upgrade hardware shopping skills to atrophy somewhat. :-)

  • I'd be interested in seeing some experiments that specifically uses the *HT by the use of libraries and compares it to conventional threading techniques. Got to keep an eye on this one..

  • No way...my first video card I bought was a 4 MB Matrox Mystique as well (on my PII-266 ;)) and you're right, I shouldn't have been so negative, there were many that had new cards working too! Good luck! :)
