The jobfront
Got back from holidays on the weekend and straight back onto looking for some work. I had a couple of interviews with companies this week which I've had pretty mixed feelings about. On the one hand there was some interesting work available (using different platforms, languages and databases).
The bad part about looking for work is the (seemingly) total lack of creativity on the part of employers when it comes to "enticing" you to work for them! Interviews usually contain all of the usual interviewer questions: What kind of projects have you worked on?; What are your weaknesses?; How do you cope with changing/conflicting priorities?; etc.
Where recruiters/employers have weaknesses lie in how they present things such as: What would I get out of working in your organization?; Describe the culture of your organization.; Explain how teams operate and the different styles of collaboration which exist within your organization.
Maybe I've just been interviewing with the wrong companies but, to me it seems that this presents a real opportunity. I've got a hunch that, a lack of skills and time leaves many companies without the ability to create and foster any sort of rich culture. If you can demonstrate that you have the talent to take teams and working environments to new levels then, I think that the world might just lay at your feet.
