Convert Latitude and Longitude
As a pilot, I frequently need to convert latitude and longitude coordinates from one system to another. The aircraft GPS accepts coordinates in degrees, minutes and seconds form. However, various pieces of software I get decimal degress such as 47.48781 North and 122.17476 West.

Chicago Parks, Meigs Field and Mayor Daley
I was fairly outraged when I read USA Today's fawning article on Chicago Mayor Daley and his efforts in creating park space in the city. Normally park space is a good thing, but his midnight, quasi-illegal destruction of the historic Meigs Field airport last year was an outrage. Here's a letter to the editor I sent to USA Today:
