Searching stupidity

'In Search of Stupidity' is a quite interesting and entertaining book, in particular if you were using computers in the time where you needed to type Ctrl+K Ctrl+S to save a document.

The thesis of the book is that Microsoft is the only company that did not do big stupid things, while their competitors did.

It seems that IBM did not learn the lesson.

  • Uh, like Microsoft with their server side controls' viewstate or single form posting back to the page that created it did. Or how about what's coming - partial types for example. Seriously, I'd want to know what was whoever came up with that smoking.

They didn't? IBM works on the Cell CPU and OS for the PS3 _and_ develops the CPU for the XBox. Now, I call that very clever.

  • They a probably doing a lot of clever things, but this one is stupid.

  • The stupidest thing IBM ever did was let Microsoft distribute their OS instead of simply buying it from them and distributing it themselves.
