Why Amazon almost sucks..
I have been buying from Amazon since '98 and the online buying experience has been quite satisfactory till now. Amazon introduced third-party sellers who usually sell used books, overstocks, etc.. and at a substantial discount (competing with Amazon itself). Unfortunately, it is difficult to govern these sellers but Amazon does have a "A-to-z guarantee" that is suppose to pacify the buyers. Some of these sellers (e.g., jpsbooks52b & badboy52b) are chronic losers - their feedback rating is well below 4.0 (out 5.0) yet they are permitted by Amazon to carry on selling (by changing their names). Quite simply, this is a losing proposition to Amazon itself - guaranteeing the sale of items of their competitors! Amazon should drop third-party sellers whose feedback ratings fall below a certain norm, 4.0 out of 5 would be a good start.
