Tea at Five
Today I had the great pleasure of seeing the one-woman show "Tea at Five", starring Kate Mulgrew. Ms. Mulgrew is one of the few genuinely gifted actors in the world and she was absolutely incredible in this play. She truly embodies everything that is Kathryn Hepburn, and you really need to see it to truly believe it.
When this show opened up on the east coast I thought that I'd never have the opportunity to see her perform it, but MUCH to my appreciate the Pasadena Playhouse is running the show for a short time and we were fortunate enough to attend.
After the show Kate (along with the writer) came back on stage to answer questions from the audience. During the many exchanges with so many individuals it became more and more clear that not only is Kate Mulgrew a superb actress, but she's also one of the most intelligent, articulate, and funny people I've ever known. I was one of the few fortunate enough to ask a question, and mine inquired as to what her future plans or desires might be. She replied stating that she would very much like to play Cleopatra in New York. While it is disappointing that "the masses" from all over the world won't necessarily get the chance to see her on television or on film any time soon, it was great to hear that she has aspirations to challenge herself and bring such talented justice to another great character.
