Did you know that Business Units have a default Team in CRM 2011?

Hi,

I just realized today that now in CRM 2011 when we create a new Business Unit, also a Team with the same name is automatically created and associated with the BU.

For instance, let´s create a BU called ´Government´ under a parent BU called ´Sales Department´:

…this triggers the automatic creation and association of a new Team also called ´Government´

Some facts and advantages of this new behavior:

• Automatically, each member of this BU is added to this Team.
• If you associate more teams with the BU, also all members of that BU turn into members of those teams.
• By using these default teams, you can easily share records among BUs, something that in CRM 4.0 were pretty hard. Also remember that now teams can own records, so, combining both things now it´s possible to have records owned and available cross-business unit. I have wrote about teams ownership here.
• Default teams are managed and hence, the membership cannot be modified.
