XmlPreCompiler
I put a nice little tool on my website for free download. I put a user interface on top of a tool Chris Sells wrote called XmlSerializerPreCompiler.Exe. You can download it here:

It's been way too long since my last post
I have not blogged in about 3 months. I have been so caught up in the design and rollout of a new system at Cox Communications where I am consulting here in Atlanta. Our directive was to supplant the existing system with a new system that enables the sale of bundled products and services.

You know you shop too much at Home Depot when.....

Mono
The mono project is something I have been watching but not getting involved with. It's not that I don't want to. With so much going on in our fast-moving technology space, i have had to carefully pick where I spend my time. Lately it has been about looking at whidbey, object databases, AOP and some other personal and business endeavors....Mono, although fascinating, is just too far down the list for me. When this happens I often pick up a book on the subject in order to stay abreast of the going-on. I saw this book on mono and considering reading up on it. Mono: A Developer's Notebook. Any other suggestions?

TheDailyWTF
Visiting Sean Schades blog I came across this. TheDailyWTF.com. People can post horrific code they come across and have everyone comment on it. It's a good laugh and worth a visit....

About being a good blogging citizen
I keep a blog because it is a good way to share information and be part of a community. At times I post information to soliticit feedback and help people solve problems that I have encountered. For example, I have a post about forcing a postback using asp.net http://weblogs.asp.net/mnolton/archive/2003/06/04/8260.aspx. It has been found on google and a lot of information is shared. Whether every comment is valuable is not really the point. The point is sharing information. The vast majority of people are good citizens and share information.

Good article by Justin Gehtland
Justin Gehtland, a writer for theserverside.net, wrote a nice little article about writing better, faster, lighter programming in .Net. A link to it can be found on TheServerSide.Net here http://www.theserverside.net/news/thread.tss?thread_id=27499. The actual article is here http://www.onjava.com/pub/a/onjava/2004/07/14/BFLJava.html

Interesting article on design patterns that focus on decoupling objects.
I came across this article and found it interesting. It discusses using different patterns to decouple objects in a complex system.
