Using Lava Lamps to show continuous integration build status
To indicate the status of a continous build, the pragmatic programmer shows how to use a pair of Lava lamps, one red and one green with an X10 Firecracker computer interface. Very clever, and low-tech.
I like this approach as it uses cheap off-the shelf components as opposed to the expensive Ambient Orb (and here) device with its expensive custom channel subscription. I wonder how hard it would be to drive the Firecracker computer interface from NAnt? And I wonder how well the X10 would work through our office building's power outlets. Hmmm I'm almost curious enough to drop the $40 on the X10 device, heck if it doesn't work in the office, I'm sure I could find some use for it at home.
