A Plucky little RSS Reader...

I have tried NewsGator, RSSBandit, and numerous others, but they all had some quirk, design flaw, or useability issue that turned me off and eventually made me uninstall them.  In fact, I have generally been disappointed with all of the RSS Readers/Aggregators I have found over the past year.

There are 3 basic features I have been looking for;

  • Simplicity
  • Integration with IE
  • Fast/Friendly UI

Today I discovered the IE add-in called Pluck, which gave me all of the above and more!  The Add-in uses a series of Explorer Bars and employs a UI that mimics MS Outlook 2003.  Its very simple to drag/drop a new RSS feed into the Reader's treeview, and the app is extremely responsive.

In addition, it offers a free (at least during beta) subscription-based service for sync'ing your Favorites, sharing links with others, and many other features.

I'm not usually easily impressed with things like this, but Pluck is greatness!  Having created a few RSS Aggregator prototypes of my own, I can only kick myself for not having thought of this approach!
