  • Imagine Cup

I’m going to be a judge at Imagine Cup in Sao Paulo, Brazil next month.  I’m pumped.  I’ve never been to Brazil.  Looking at my schedule, it doesn’t really allow me any time (like, not even 5 min) to be a tourist… oh well.  Has anyone been there before?

  • Responding to RFP's

Many of you who are also consultants know that one of the realities of life is to write sales proposals.  When working for large companies or governments you typically submit a proposal in response to a RFP – a request for proposal.  This task is much like taking a pen and jamming it into your eyeball.  While this may be fun for those who enjoy physical self mutilation -  I personally do not appreciate this painful experience (well, that’s not true… I’m still a consultant and in some form that is one type of self mutilation I would assume).

  • Initial Thoughts on VS.2005 May Release and VS.NET 2005 Team System

I installed VS.NET 2005 May drop with the specific intent on playing with Team System pieces – I really wanted to play with the Project Management and Source Code Control pieces…Well, turns out that I can’t seem to run the PM or SCC modules because they require a Team Foundation Server… which isn’t shipped with the build. Ack!  Well, it took a news group entry to figure that out.  If you are interested, you should also check out the FAQ – While reading the FAQ one thing really stood out for me:

  • Visual Source Safe 2005

In our last Winnipeg.NET Users Group a member asked me what’s coming with VSS?  Well, truth is, VSS has been off my radar for about a year already.  After watching a VSS Roadmap presentation a while back I decided to write off the whole thing in hopes that Microsoft will just buy Vault – or something equivalent.

  • Smart Client Deep Dives

I’m going to be speaking at an MSDN Canada Deep Dive on Smart Clients on April 22nd, in Calgary.  I’m kinda excited about this since much of what I’ve been doing is in the Smart Client world – and I’m itching to tell the world.  We’re (read that as “we are consulting to a company who is” ) working on an extremely cool (and quite large) Smart Client suite applications.  Mike and I have also been brain storming about an enhanced Smart Client version of Stacks – that’ll be cool.
