Why I Like CMMI
I continually work with customers to help them achieve greater success with their software engineering processes. Generally speaking, I come across a large number of fairly large and successful organizations who rely on technology for their business yet maintain an extremely low success rate with their IT projects. What makes a project successful? To some organizations simply finishing a project that they start is considered successful – nothing like keeping that achievement bar right up there. In my humble opinion a project needs to be on-time, on-budget, and more importantly on-function. If your projects are on-budget and on-time yet lack the business valued functionality that you planned on providing – are you successful? My opinion is that you are not.

Question: How do you Reset password on weblogs.asp.net??
I have a friend, Mike Diehl, who simply can’t figure out how to unlock his account. He’s tried changing it in www.asp.net – but no go.

Team System in Hong Kong and Other News
I’m in Hong Kong right now (amazing city by the way) once more spreading the good word about Team System. I have to say – what a great and eager bunch out here. We’re gonna have a lot of fun with Team System this week. Next week I’ll be in England again working with customers on Team System adoption and process maturity strategies – followed by another week of customized workshop-based Team System training in England as well. I’ll then be doing some additional Team System training in Canada the week after – which apparently, is where I’m from – go figure!

Representing Servers in Team System's LDD
Lately, I’ve been asked the following question more than once: “Using the Logical Datacenter Designer, how would I place the database on the same server as my web server?” Well, this is a great question and exposes a problem in the way we are communicating what the LDD is supposed to represent.
