Web Standards and the Meaning of Life
I was trolling my usual standards oriented blogs when I ran across this cool entry called Web Standards and the Meaning of Life on Acts Of Volition. This old-school HTML to XHTML/CSS convert has a very good point:
The most significant immediate benefit, for me, is the way in which the structure of XHTML forces you to produce cleaner and more logical code. However, I don’t expect this benefit to convince a naysayer. That’s the whole point. I couldn’t be convinced - I had to try and learn before I could understand.
So for those of you out there that haven’t tried it, it is time to get up and try to expand your mind a bit. Even if you wind up not being a convert, it will help you re-learn exactly why you do things your way, and made even improve you technique a little. If you spending the time learning a new technology like .Net, you might as well jump all the way in and try to unlearn other old falsehoods.
