I thought X# was dead ?

Last month several blogs reported that the X# project would not result in a product in the forseeable future.

Now Mary Jo Foley at Microsoft Watch reports that a language like Xen (which sounds just like X#) is gaining traction. It sounds like she's late with her article, but then again, just about at the same time when the blogs reported  the project's demise, Erik Mejer, gave a well-received presentation on Xen at XML 2003.

I guess it remains to be seen what happens. We'll see if the continuing adoption of XML creates enough demand for a true programming language to make Microsoft dust off the work they did and productize it. We'll see if BizTalk 2004 will ship with another version of xsharpP.exe to transform odx orchestrations to bpel ...
