Suggestions?

I have a wibbleshanks mailing list (mailto: wibbleshanks-subscribe@realworldasp.net ) and I want to make an automatic web archive. Any suggestions how I can do this without requiring an AT job (I used poverty shared cheapo hosting).

My idea is to use a POP3 account and extract the new messages and insert them into my SQL2k db, but I don't really like the idea of having to do this on a session start, etc, based on hits to the archive site as this could cause quite a delay?

Any ideas welcomed ..
